About the Author - Michael Swanick
After fourteen years of racquetball, basketball leagues, and health club machines, I thought I was in pretty good physical shape. My biggest concern was the injuries were getting more frequent and the time to heal kept getting longer. My golf game was playing a huge price so I knew something had to change. But what? One day I visited what I thought was a chinese restaurant and learned it was a martial arts school. I went back for a personal evaluation and discovered that all I was lacking was core strength, flexibility, coordination, focus, posture, harmony, and any kind of balanced relationship between my mental, physical, and spiritual sides. I was the Tin Man. I quit the health club and began a new and incredible journey. I now live in a different body and it feels great. My relationships are now about loving, caring, and fun and it is awesome. I am balanced and living a life I truly enjoy. I am also hitting some of the best golf shots of my life. I did not start playing golf regularly until my early thirties and with the exception of one golf book and one video, I am pretty much self taught. I hacked around for several years before getting serious and ultimately worked my handicap down to a four. It now stays in the six to eight range and I generally play on weekends with friends. I am a graduate of Arizona State University, a United States Air Force veteran, the father of two awesome individuals, (Summer and Samson), a career mortgage loan officer, a Black Belt from the United Martial Arts, a novice West Coast Swing Dancer, the husband of Diane, (the best wife a man could have), and I am now teaching "Martial Golf" to others. I believe we are measured not by what we have, but by what we give back and whether you golf or not, the message in my book can apply to you because it is universal. - Michael Swanick |
